They float like ballet dancers and glide like figure skaters, but in fact they are bruised, sun-burned men and women who fly with their heavy machines in an amazing grace, who dare the cruel, rugged terrain of the tracks and flirt with sometimes treacherous winds.
As they lunge their bikes up to cross a hill, spectators freeze. It is almost eerie, yet very serene, and probably one of the most bewitching and graceful performances that happen both on the ground and in mid-air. When they land, they know that as they conquer the sky, they, too, can conquer the earth.
One look at their arms and you see that they are scarred, one look ar their eyes and you see that they are not scared. Such is the love affair between the racers and the tracks, but the tracks are made only to make them fly. The tracks is their stage, but their romance is in the sky.
Motocross imitates life, with all its uncertainties, ruggedness, dangers, and betrayals on one hand, and resiliency, patience, and grace on the other. The tracks can betray you, the winds can blow you, but life is best measured in being able to fly through them.
And fly did last August 8 in Molino 3, Cavite City, the first of SEL-J Sports' 12-series motocross games this year. Mr. Jay Lacnit, the moving force behind SEL-J Sports gathered a total of 49 racers from all over the country to compete in the event, which was sanctioned by the National Motorcyle Sports and Safety Associations (NAMSSA). The sun was burning fiercely, and the grounds were a merciless heap of mud after a week of heavy pouring, yet more than 5,000 people showed up to watch a spectacular ballet in the sky. The country's no. 1 racer, Glenn Aguilar, the legendary Jovie Saulog, and perennial champion rider Donark Yuzon joined in the competitions.
SEL-J Sports' second leg of the series is scheduled on August 21, 22 at 3:00 to 9:00 PM in Bicutan, SMX, also sanctioned by NAMSSA. It will complete its 12-round tour this year, but will also join in NAMSSA 7-series events. Next year, it will bring its racers to international competitions. 2009 Over-all champion will receive Honda XRM, and the 2010 winner will also be awarded a brand new 250F motorcycle from SEL-J Sports.
Part of SEL-J Sports mission is to advertise the comapny's OTC products. Therasil is the company's lozenge line that provides soothing relief from sore throat. SEL-J Pharma is also preparing for a big launch of its other OTC portpolio, which will include cough and colds preparations, multivitamins and nutraceuticals. The club also envisions to provide a unique vehicle for other companies to advertise their products.
