SEL-J Sports’ Therasil riders once again proved too strong and too fast as they won back-to-back in the 3rd and 4th heats of the ongoing 2009 SEL-J Sports Philippine Motocross Series held in Molino 3, Cavite City and Batangas City on September 6 and 13, respectively. Led by skipper Donark Yuzon, the entire team blazed and roared in the wild, treacherous tracks, at times showing fancy moves that chilled and thrilled both gladiators and spectators.
Boosted by the recent entry of Philippine number one racer Glenn Aguilar in SEL-J’s stable under the Therasil/KTM Access Plus, the Therasil Team now lays claim to being the country’s most exciting motocross club. Aguilar, a multi-awarded and widely celebrated Filipino racer, easily led his teammates in dominating the Pro Open and Pro 125 categories. Round 5 is scheduled on September 27 in Cavite, in celebration of the city’s 338th founding anniversary, while Rounds 6 and 7 will be held in Iloilo City on October 16 and 18. The series will travel to Sorsogon for the 8th round, and move down south to Mindanao for the succeeding rounds. SEL-J Sports Manager Jay Lacnit, who has triggered a phenomenal interest in motocross among Filipino riders and even international racers, competed and won 2nd place in the Batangas tourney last September 13 in the Executive category.
Lacnit has another reason to celebrate: the Philippine Sports Commission has recognized and accredited SEL-J Sports, by way of a Certificate of Recognition signed by PSC Chairman Ambassador Harry C. Angping, as a legitimate private organization involved in the promotion, advocacy and propagation of sports and wellness in the country. Lacnit has also envisioned presence in other sporting events like basketball and boxing.
Asked on where he has developed his appetite and passion for sports, particularly motocross, Mr. Lacnit sheepishly said, “Everytime I see somebody flying with his bike, I smell freedom – and that freedom is not just about winning. It is about transcending one’s fears, it is about conquering one’s eakness, and more importantly it is about feeding one’s spirit”.###
