Jake Sheppard by Jake Sheppard

SEL-J’s event on Sunday left me on a high. After the Asian SX was cancelled I was so much looking forward to riding again.

The event was ran very similar to our races in Australia. The event ran smooth and the weather is perfect. I was fortunate to race 3 classes which filled my day well. My first moto was the 85cc class, with limited numbers I had pretty easy races and won both motos. The second moto I rode was much harder as I rode in the Novice Open with the big boys, not to be intimidated I pushed for the start but by the first corner I was shut out to 6th place. Staying focused I pushed on but couldn’t do the triples which left my lap times slower than those guys, my main objective for the rest of the race was to stay upright and not get lapped. The third moto was my standout event. Once again up against the 250F’s in the Beginner Production, I managed a holeshot in both motos, with a little less power 150F. 2nd place passed me easily after the first lap half way through I rubbed elbows with the third place rider before one of the triples putting me back to third place, I hung on to 3rd for the rest of the moto. My overall positions were 1st 85cc, 7th Novice Open and 3rd Beginner Production and 4 holeshots out of 6 starts. So you could say I had a pretty good day, presentation was overwhelming and I am glad that SEL-J, MXDenki and Quickflight gave me the opportunity to race in the Philippines. Also with the price money I was able to do my bit for the flood victims. Salamat Poh—Jake Sheppard.###
