Taking photos of beautiful sceneries, people, animals and other interesting subjects—are fun, exciting and easy. While capturing the drama, the beauty and the story of your subject—is remarkably an Art.

In some photography settings like people and landscapes; photographers have the luxury to compose longer shots and to recompose numerous times perfecting the shot. Shooting sport photography like motocross is different. You have to be quick, snappy and creative to capture the intensity of the action otherwise you will miss the opportune. In addition to swiftness, you also have to be watchful to the attendant danger of taking photos inside the race track.

Just want to share in my recent MX photo shoot in Sel-J Sports Motocross in Monilo Cavite, wherein, I have almost got hit by a crashing motorcycle. I positioned myself on top of the berm to capture the intensity of the riders from their start to the first turn. Noticing tire marks on the berm where I stand and sensing danger of the spot, I decided to move to another position before the starting gate drops.

The first turn was very intense that the riders are too close to each other. One rider hit the rear tire of another rider causing him to wobble and loose control of his bike until crashing to the dirt. I was near the action and almost got hit by the motorcycle. As I look back, I saw the bike crashed on the berm where I first positioned myself. Thank God, I decided to move away.

This experience made me more cautious and aware of the danger of the sports. Nevertheless it will not prevent me in covering the thrill and excitement of motocross amidst the hazard. After all, I still got that memorable shot.###
